Short, dense and glossy, finer and shorter on the head, the ears, front part of the legs and feet.
Bracco Italiano
Skin: Fine, tight fitting and well pigmented.
Hair: The coat is fine but not silky, lying flat on the body or with a slight hint of a wave. Never curly. Short on the head and the front of the limbs. The hind part of the latter has a heavier coat, furnished with abundant feathering, diminishing along their length down to the carpus (wrist) or the tarsus (hock), or even lower.
Brittany
Skin: Close and tight, not wrinkly.
Texture: Short and dense, rough and hard to the touch. Somewhat thinner and shorter on the head and ears, not remarkably longer at the underside of the tail. Should cover the whole body.
GSP
Skin: Tight, close fitting, without folds.
Wirehaired, harsh, flat lying and dense. Outer coat approximately 2 to 4 cm long; dense water resistant undercoat. The outlines of the body may not be obscured by longer coat. Through its harshness and density it should provide as good protection against weather and injuries as
possible. The lower parts of the legs, as well as the lower region of the brisket and the belly, should be shorter but densely coated, the head and the ears to be shorter and at the same time denser but never softer coated. Pronounced eyebrows and a well developed not too long, as harsh as possible beard emphasise the determined expression.
GWP
Short and dense, should be coarse and hard at the touch. On the head and the ear leathers, it should be thinner, silkier and shorter. The hair underneath the tail should be slightly, but not noticeably longer. The coat should cover all if the body with the underside of the belly being a little lighter coated. No undercoat.
Hungarian Vizsla
Wiry, close lying, strong, dense and not glossy. Length of outer coat 2-3 cms; dense, water repellent undercoat. The outline of the body must not be hidden by the longer coat. By its hardness and density, it should provide as much protection as possible against weather conditions and injuries. The lower parts of the legs as well as the undersides of the chest and belly should be covered with shorter, softer and slightly thinner hair. The coat on the head and on the ears is shorter and, at the same time, a little darker, however not soft and dense. Pronounced eyebrows accentuate the stop. These and a strong, not too long (2-3cm) as harsh as possible beard, on both sides of the muzzle, underline the determined expression. On both sides of the neck the coat forms V-shaped brushes.
HWV
Tough, thick, slightly wiry, close fitting, length 3.8-6 cms on body, shorter on nasal bridge, ears and head, even shorter on front of legs and feet.
Eyebrows consist of longer stiff hair, even longer but softer hair covers cheeks and upper lips forming moustache and beard. Skin thick and leathery.
Italian Spinone
Hair long and dense, but not curly or coarse. Well feathered on front and hindlegs and on tail, more so in dogs than in bitches. Hair must lie short and smooth on the head.
Large Musterlander
Skin: Strong. Well fitting but not too tight.
Qualities:
Short-haired: Short (but longer and thicker than with most comparable breeds), strong, very dense, smooth lying topcoat. Without or only with very sparse undercoat.
Long-haired: Soft, long topcoat with or without undercoat. Smooth or slightly wavy. Hair at base of ear long and flowing. Velvety hair is permissible on tips of leathers. Length of coat on flanks 3-5 centimetres. On lower side of neck, forechest and belly, generally somewhat longer. Good feathering and breeching, yet less long towards the ground. Tail with a good flag. Hair between the toes. Hair on head less long. A type of coat similar to a double-coat (Stockhaar) with medium length, dense, close fitting topcoat, thick undercoat and moderately developed feathering and breeching sometimes occurs in dogs of mixed ancestry.
Weimaraner and Weimaraner Longhaired
Skin: Of medium thickness, elastic, without folds, of a grey colour.
Hair: Undercoat : down short and fine. Normally looses it in the summer. Topcoat about 4 cm long, harsh, straight and flat.
At the lower part of the muzzle, the hair is longer and softer, forming a moustache. Above the eyes, the hair is more marked and laying obliquely. The forehead and the occiput are covered with short harsh hair. The hair on the leathers is short and soft. The tail is very hairy.
Wirehaired Slovakian Pointer
Body coat: Medium to tight curls lying close to the skin, extending from occiput to tip of tail and behind the legs. Slight feathering on back of forelegs.
The forehead and face are smooth with the curls commencing at the back of the skull, where the ears begin. The front of forelegs, hocks, pasterns and feet have a short, smooth and straight coat.
Texture: The coat is naturally oily but not harsh to the touch. It is sufficiently thick to protect the skin from cold water and punishing cover while retrieving.
