Q
What is the problem/opportunity that you were researching?
A
• Recycling behaviour in the USA - focus on DRS (greater good)
3
Q
How would you investigate if people had a positive attitude towards the DRS – in the context of willingness to comply with government regulations?
A
- Draw on the expectancy value model (especially beliefs: does this comply with my underlying values in life)
- People are more critical about government interventions in the US → people value their freedom of choice
4
Q
How could longitudinal insights be used in this respect?
A
- Reporting attitudes over a longer period of time in order to see if attitudes change positively or negatively the more you use the DRS
- Short term behavior is easy to change, long term difficult. How do we make people keep using the DRS consistently over time?
5

A
- Psychological: motivation to use DRS, attitudes, values (biospheric)
- Personal capabilities: Age, income
- Social factors: Family, social pressure (from neighbors)
