What 6 criteria must be met before a nurse can delegate a task to an NA I?
- Task is performed frequently during daily care
- Task is performed using a set sequence of steps
- Task involves little or no modification from client to client
- Task has a predictable outcome
- Task does /not/ require on-going assessment, interpretation, or decision making
- Task does not endanger client’s life or well-being
What 4 criteria must be met for work hours to count towards an NA I listing renewal?
Work must be:
- Paid
- Supervised by an RN
- Nursing/nursing services
- At least 8 hours in duration
What are the 5 “rights” of delegation?

What are 5 questions you should ask yourself before performing a delegated task?
- Do I have all the information I need to perform the task? Do I have questions?
- Do I think I have the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the task?
- Do I have the required equipment and supplies?
- Who is my supervisor and how can I contact them?
- Have I told my supervisor I need help?
