If a client gains 3-6 pounds what do we do?
- Have ct weigh in daily until their weight is maintained
- Have cts bring in their food diary
- You may restrict foods put client on stabilization for 1 week if needed
What can maintenance be viewed as?
Maintenance is the clients insurance policy against ever having to fight a weight problem again.
What color files are maintenance files?
Yellow
How do we handle it if a weight gain occurs during stabilization?
If a weight gain occurs during stabilization find the problem and redo that week over again free of charge.
What changes are made during week 1 of stabilization?
Primarily proteins are increased across the plans.
Proteins-3 serv; Vege-4 serv; Fruit-3 serv; Starch-3 serv
What changes are made during week 2 of stabilization?
A milk group will be added.
What changes are made during week 3 of stabilization?
Starch servings may now be any of your choice only taken, 1 per meal.
Add 100 to 150 cal of fat daily.
What changes are made during week 4 of stabilization?
Another serving from the milk group is allowed if desired.
Up to 200 cal now allowed from the fat group.
What changes are made during week 5 of stabilization?
Follow suggested menu plan for wk 4. Option: may add 2 choices per week from the misc group.
What changes are made during week 6 of stabilization?
Determine maximum caloric allowance, based on your physical characteristics, age, sex, & activity. This will help you calculate the total maintenance weight.
What are the 6 reasons for renewals?

What are some of the benefits of water for weight loss?
Suppresses the appetite naturally Helps the body metabolize stored fat Kidney function Treatment for fluid retention Maintains proper muscle tone Helps prevent sagging skin Helps rid the body of waste Can help relieve constipation
Clients need to drink 10 glasses of water daily in order to:
Reduce swelling & water retention Help burn up fats & carbohydrates Help provide more energy Help with the removal of waste products Avoid constipation Not feel hungry
Is sugarless gum allowed on the programs?
Yes, one stick per day.
Reasons for constipation are:
Insufficient fluid intake
Insufficient fiber intake
Laxative or caffeine dependency
Pre-existing bowel, intestine or colon problems
How are deviations noted in the patient charts?
In red ink.
What water amounts are required for a water flush?
88/96/88/80
How do you handle a deviation after week 3 on the program?
Have the client omit 1 fruit & 1 starch for 2 days, water flush add fresh lemon to all the water.
How do you handle a deviation prior to week 3 on the program?
Water flush only, no omits.
