General Flashcards
What’s the epithelium
Tissue lines internal and external. Tissues in animals
What’s included in connective tissue
Loose connective ordinary tissue
Adipose tissue
Blood and blood forming tissues
Dense ordinary connective tissue
Cartilage
Bone
Autosomal
Chromosome Not sex linked
Monoploidy
Missing a chromosome in set of chromosome
What are centrioles
Help organise cell division
Formed from tublin
Located near nucleus
What is pepsin
Enzyme
Breaks down proteins in stomach
Which vitamins are soluble in water
B C
What type of muscle is diagram
Skeletal
What type of hormone enter target cell
Being lipid steriod hormone enter by simple diffusion
Common sex linked disease
Haemophilia
X linked
Red green colour blindness
Sex linked
Gene of interest carried on X chromosome
Missesense mutation
Point mutation
Single nucleotide changed
Results in codon coding for dif AA
Vision mechanism
The light rays emitted by various objects are captured by eyes and then send inwards. The light rays are visible wavelength are focussed on the retina through the cornea & the lens. This generates the potentials (impulses) in the rods and the cones present in the retina
Benefit it lipid over carb
Lipid higher energy content
Thermal insulators
Meiosis
Cell divide to form gametes
Copies of the genetic information are made
2. The cell divides twice to form four gametes, each with a single set of chromosomes
3. All gametes are genetically different from each other
Gametes join at fertilisation to restore the normal number of chromosomes. The new cell divides by mitosis. The number of cells increases. As the embryo develops, cells differentiate.
Humours response
The humoral immune response targets pathogens circulating in
“humors,” or extracellular fluids, such as blood and lymph.
Antibodies target invading pathogens for destruction via multiple defense mechanisms, including neutralization, opsonization, and activation of the complement system. Patients that are impaired in the
production of antibodies suffer from severe and frequent infections by common pathogens and unusual pathogens
What causes ovulation.
LH surge
What causes menstruation
