(Definition)
Official Scrum Guide

__________
Udemy

=> Continuous adaptation

Scrum is is mechanism to guide changes
Traditional vs Agile
Explain the traditional (Waterfall) approach
Where is it most useful?
=> aim to develop the perfect plan and then follow it
Better suited for
endeavors in which we know what to do, what to deliver early in the development cycle;
eg. Constructing buildings or building a bridge
Traditional vs Agile
Explain the Agile approach
Where is it most useful?
=> deliver something close to the customer’s needs in short cycles, giving what we know now and learn with experiences
Best suited for
complex environments, where changes natural and should not be avoided because adapting is the way to lead us to the desired outcomes (frequent for developing innovative or complex products)
Agile x Rapid x Lean
What does Rapid mean?
=> getting to the vision fast
Reaching initial vision fast means being still far away from our correct vision (=> waste)
Agile x Rapid x Lean
What is the Difference between Rapid and Agile?
Difference between Rapid and Agile
=> difference between a bullet and a leopard
A bullet is rapid but can’t adapt along the way (=> rapid but not agile)
A leopard is rapid and can quickly adjust if needed (=> rapid and agile)
Agile x Rapid x Lean
What does Lean mean?
Lean
=> reducing waste
Explain the relationship between Agile and Scrum
=> Scrum is a way of implementing agility (a framework to address complex problems)
=> Succeeding with Agile and Scrum requires being rapid and lean
=> Scrum is build on top of the Agile Manifesto by presenting practices on how to adopt agility
What is Waste?
=> working on anything not part of the correct product vision
