Gender Non- Conformity

  1. The pressure to conform can cause a lot of stress
  2. Non- conformity can cause bullying, and gender dysphoria
  3. It is more socially acceptable for a girl to show masculine traits than for a boy to show feminine traits
  4. Male traits are highly valued in society E.g. assertiveness

  2. Not all bullying is gender related
  3. Finnish study- 75% of those with gender dysphoria who had experienced bullying had said that the bullying had started before they identified as gender atypical
