Gen Chem L1-Matter and its Properties Flashcards
L1-Matter and itd Properties
It occupies space and has mass.
MATTER
It is composed of Tiny Particles called Atom.
MATTER
What is the smallest particles of matter?
ATOM
What are the three main subatomic particles?
PROTONS, ELECTRONS, and NEUTRONS
It’s POSITIVELY charged and it’s located inside the nuclues.
PROTONS
Small NEGATIVELY charged and it spins around the nucleus.
ELECTRONS
Have NO CHARGE but located inside the nucleus
NEUTRONS
What are the three states of matter?
SOLID, LIQUID, and GAS
It has a fixed shape and volume and the particles are tightly compact.
SOLID
It has a definite volume but takes the shape of container, and the particles are always moving and can past to one another.
LIQUID
Has NO fixed shape or volume and the particles are very far from each other and can move freely.
GAS
What are the TWO PROPERTIES of Matter?
PHYSICAL and CHEMICAL
Can be observed when a matter reacts to another substance.
CHEMICAL
it can observed or measured without changing the identity or composition of the substance.
PHYSICAL
What are the two types of PHYSICAL PROPERTIES?
EXTENSIVE and INTENSIVE
