is used to describe a person’s overall sense of self-worth or personal value. In other words, how much you appreciate and like yourself. It involves a variety of beliefs about yourself, such as the appraisal of your own appearance, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors.

knowledge and understanding of internal concepts (such as one’s own motivations, strengths, and weaknesses) that have been gleaned through reflection and honesty

the self also serves an
executive function, regulating people’s behavior, choices, and plans for the future. It involves controlling one’s behavior, emotions, and thoughts in the
pursuit of long-term goals
