What is globalisation?
Means easier movement of people around the world.
Why has tourism increased?
There has been an increase in wealth.
Improvements in travel and technology.
Change in lifestyle and interest.
Greater awareness due to media and tv.
Why do national parks attract so much tourism?
They contain some of the most scenic places in England.
Public access is encouraged but restricted to footpaths and bridleways.
Usually located within easy reach of major conurbations, so more people can get to them.
What is ecotourism?
Known as green tourism, is sustainable form of tourism that is more convenient for developing countries.
Ecotourism includes-
Visiting places to enjoy environment and wildlife.
Creating jobs in area while at same time protecting natural resources and local wildlife.
How is sustainable development achieved?
Encouraging economic development at pace country can afford.
Developing technology that fits with people’s skill and wealth.
Using natural resources without harming the environment.
Example of socioeconomic sustainable development-
family planning, steady replacement rate
Example of sustainable development with people and resources.
Renewable energy, soil conservation, clean water supply and organic farming.
Example of sustainable development with people and environment.
Ecotourism, national parks, protecting scenery and wild habitats.

High birth rate, rapid natural increase and ageing population.

Continued use of minerals and fossil fuels.
Soil erosion due to overgrazing.
Pollution of water supplies.

Mass tourism at coastal resorts and mountain resorts.
What are the causes of inequality?
Social- more country develops, more money it has to spend on education, health and housing.
Political- countries likely to develop more if they had stable government.
Environmental- countries more likely to develop if it avoids natural disasters.
