- Verbal (best verbal response) = 5

6 - obeying commands 5 - localising to pain 4 - withdrawing to pain 3 - flexor response to pain 2 - extensor response to pain 1 - no response to pain
What are the 5 points of the verbal section of GCS?
5 - orientated (time, place, person) 4 - confused conversation 3 - inappropriate speech 2 - incomprehensible sounds 1 - none

4 - spontaneous

What GCS score indicates severe injury?
GCS ≤ 8
What should you do at GCS ≤ 8?
Consider airway protection
What GCS score indicates moderate injury?
GCS 9-12
What GCS score indicates mild injury?
GCS 13-15
What is CURB-65 used for?
Community acquired pneumonia (1 point for each section)
What are the 5 sections of CURB-65?
1) Confusion
2) Urea > 7 mmol/l
3) RR ≥ 30
4) BP - SBP ≤ 90 or DBP ≤ 60
5) Age > 65
What is the management for CURB-65 score of 0-1?
Home - Consider home treatment
What is the management for CURB-65 score of 2?
Admission - probably admission (or close outpatient management)
What is the management for CURB-65 score of 3-5?
ITU - admission, manage as severe (ITU)
