How do plants exchange gases?
A
=Stomata
-Small openings on the undersides of leaves
-Allow carbon dioxide to diffuse into a cell and water vapour and oxygen to diffuse out
-Opening is dictated by guard cells (Turgid = open, flaccid = close)
=Spongy Mesophyll
-Provide a large SA:V ratio for the exchange of gases within a leaf
