GangBlockers Flashcards
1
Q
Where are cholinergic nicotinic receptors found?
A
sympathetic ganglia
2
Q
What is trimethaphan? What is its mechanism and what is it used for?
A
It is a ganglionic blocker used to treat HTN, but is uncommonly used because of its unspecific effects on ANS. It competes for nicotinic receptor binding with acetylcholine and blocks the ion channel. Inhibits ganglionic transmission

Q
What is the neurotransmitter in sympathetic and parasympathetic ganglia?
A
acetylcholine
