Gait Cycle Flashcards
Initial contact
First foot contact on ground
Hip extensors, quads contract eccentrically, tib ant contracts eccentrically
Loading Response
Beginning of DLS
Occurs after initial contact until elevation of opposite limb
Mid Stance
Initial period of single leg support
From elevation of opposite limb until both ankles are aligned in the coronal plane
Terminal Stance
begins when support heel rises from ground and continues until opposite heel touches ground
Pre Swing
Start of the second double limb stance in gait cycle
From initial contact of opposite limb to just prior to elevation of ipsilateral limb
Initial Swing
Start of single limb support for opposite limb
From elevation of limb to point of maximal knee flexion
Mid Swing
Following knee flexion to point where tibia is vertical
Terminal Swing
From point where tibia is vertical to list prior to initial contact
Name every gait cycle part in order
