FW Flashcards
what is a transverse wave
A wave in which the particles of the medium vibrates at the right angle to the direction of motion of the wave. A transverse wave is a succession of transverse pulses
What is a pulse
a single disturbance in the medium
What is a transverse pulse
a pulse in which the particles of the medium move at the right angles to the direction of the pulse
What is the rest position
The position in which all particles start from and return to after a pulse or wave has passed
what is amplitude
The maximum displacement of particles from the rest position
what is pulse length
The distance between the start and the end of the pulse
What is Wavelength
The distance between two consecutive points in a phase
what is the crest
The highest points (peak) on a wave
what is the trough
The lowest points on a wave
What is constructive interference
It is when two pulses meet above the rest position
What is destructive interference
It is when two pulses meet on opposite sides of the rest position
A pulse move trough a _______
medium
What does v in v=d/t stand for
velocity / speed
