Fuze Immunisation Flashcards
What does EL AZ represent?
Electric impact fuze
What character denotes the series?
The second number
What does Zus mean?
Addition
What fuze series may have a protective fuze fitted?
Series 7
What is meant by fuze immunisation?
The process by which a weapon is stopped from functioning - permanently
What are the 3 methods of fuze immunisation, what do they use and against what fuzes?
A - BD fluid - Electro Capacitor Resistance (ECR)
C - Salt Solution - Clockwork Fuzes
J - Gelly agent - Mechanical Fuzes
Method A is used against what fuzes?
ECR - electro-capacitor resistance
What liquid is used with method A and what is it’s make up?
BD liquid,
Benzole 9ltr / methylated spirit 4.5ltr / 23g salt / red dye
What does BD liquid do?
Destroys the electrical insulation before allowing a controlled discharge of the electrical current.
What liquid is used in method C and what does it do?
Salt solution
Approx 170-200g salt to 1/2ltr of lukewarm water
Solution corrodes and clogs up the cogs with the fuse used to desensitise picrate crystals
How does method C work?
A deposit of salt forms around the mechanism preventing functioning operation of the clockwork mechanism
What drill location depth and diameter is required for method C and J
Hard against the locating ring.
4mm diameter 12mm deep
What is method J?
To stop mechanical fuze.
A binary solution mix begins as a fluid and quickly turns into a solid.
What’s the soak time for method A, C an J?
25,45,45 mins
What are the 2 temporary inhibition methods?
Method E - Clock Stopper
F - Cryogenic Freezing
