Fungi Flashcards
Cryptomycetes
Small parasitic fungi that lacks a chitin wall. Small and an internal parasite so difficult to locate
Microsporidians
formerly protists. obligate intracellular parasites. spore stage uses a polar tube harpoon to infect hosts.
Chrytids
unicellular fungi with flagellated spores. notable for decimating specific amphibian populations
Zoopagomacytes
mostly parasitic. lack septa, and have multiple nuclei. notable for host behaviour manipulation.
Mucoromyctes
Both sexually and asexually reproducing. Lacks septa, and has multiple nuclei. sexual reproduces via the formation of a zygosporangium from fused hyphae, creating diploid organs which further produces haploid spores
Ascomycetes
Proper septae hyphae with distinct reproductive cells. form complex ascospores, in where mating produces specific asci, which produces diploid zygotes that undergo mieosis than mitosis.
Basidomycetes
septated hyphae. reproduce sexually. separate hyphae merge soon after formation, creating dikaryotic fungi. meisosis occurs in a fruiting body that emerges above ground, in basidia folds.
