Donor Loyalty
It’s a behavior: psychological commitment (loyal donors feel an emotional connection to your NPO. They intend to give you in the future. Loyal donor plan to give more and they are satisfied with your work, program and stewardship.
How to build donor loyalty?
- Recognizing them in a way that is appropriate for them.
- Understand their motivations for giving
- Provide them with a high level of donor service
Donor Committment
Drives loyalty. Commitment is defined as a desire on the part of the donor to maintain a relationship in the future.
Active commitment
Is a passion for the organization
Passive commitment
Where donors think giving is the “right thing to do.”
Service quality
Satisfaction with the service provided by the fundraising team
Risk
Donor lapse of they feel that if they stop giving no one will be harmed (clients, beneficiaries). Donors will cancel their gift if they believe the organizations work will NOT be impacted. There is no risk to the client if I stop giving.
Shared beliefs
Loyal donors have brought into your organization’s values.
