Fundoscopy Flashcards
Myopia
Nearsightedness. People can see close objects clearly
Hyperopia
Farsightedness. People can see far objects
Astigmatism
Imperfection of the cornea preventing preventing light rays from focusing on the retina
Fundoscopy on myopic patients
Opthalmoscope provides a greater degree of magnification and smaller field of view than emmetropic patients
Fundoscopy on hypertropic patients
Opthalmoscope provides a smaller degree of magnification and wider field of view than emmetropic patients
Emmetropia
An eye that has no visual defects
Myadriasis
Dilation of the pupil of the eye
Dilating drops: sympathomimetics
Adrenaline, Phenylephrine
Dilating drops: anticholinergics
Tropicamide, cyclopentolate, homatropine, atropine
Strabismus
abnormal alignment of eyes, condition of having a squint
Esotropia
form of strabismus when one or both eyes turn inwards
Exotropia
form of strabismus where eyes are deviated outwards
Hypertropia
the visual axis of one eye is higher than the fellow fixating eye
Hypotropia
the visual axis of one eye is lower than the fellow fixating eye
