16
Q

What is the developmental sequence for selective attention? (Ross, 1976)

A
  1. Over-exclusion; ignoring information (5-6 yrs)
  2. Over-inclusion; over-stimulation from information (6-12 yrs)
  3. Selective attention (12+)
17
Q

How does Ross’s developmental sequence for selective attention relate to domain specific development of selective attention after 12 years of age? [effect on perceptual motor performance]

A

Perceptual motor performance is going to decline. This can lead to the inability to complete skills which affect participation in these skills.

18
Q

Why do children have slower reaction time than adults (4)?

A

Possibly due to;

  1. Slower perception
  2. Slower decision making (executive function)
  3. Slower movement
  4. Lack of attention
19
Q

Why is sensory motor development, especially visual development, important to motor development?

A

The development of static visual acuity, dynamical visual acuity, visuomotor coordination, depth perception and figure ground perception has an impact on key abilities in terms of perception and cognition. Important for the design of learning environments for children.
