What is Planning?
This involves mapping out how to achieve particular goals. The manager usually decides what steps to take and then these steps are developed into a plan that he will follow.
What is an example of Planning?
To increase sales of the organizationβs products and services
What is Organizing?
In organizing, after a plan has been establishes, managers need to structure their teams or departments and resources in accordance to the plan
What is Directing?
In directing, managers have to ensure that all of the elements within their teams are aware and achieving the set targets and deadlines within the overall plan.
What is controlling?
This is when the manager oversees all of the staff within teams to ensure everyone is on target to meet the aims that were developed in the planning stage.
What is co-ordinating?
This refers to the manager overseeing that all personnel and departments are working together to achieve the overall aims.
What is delegating?
This refers to giving a subordinate the authority to oversee a task assigned to them by the manager. The relieve the manager of some of their roles but the final responsibility remains with the manager.
What is motivating?
This refers to reasons for behaving in a particular way. In a business, the managers wants their subordinates to give their best effort to achieving their plan and the organizationβs aim.
Why is co-ordinating important?
This is important because it is easy for individuals or groups to concentrate on their particular work without taking into account others involved in the overall scheme. The management can organize meetings with representative from each department so that everyone is kept aware.
What is a benefit of the controlling function?
The manager could identify individuals or groups that are under-achieving. an corrective measures can be taken.
