Functions of Design Flashcards
What is design and why do we use it?
Design is… the creation of an object to address a need or solve a problem
- to improve our lives by solving problems
- or a need that needs to be addressed
- functionality
- (express ourselves but sometimes we need to put it aside)
Form Follows Function
- what do we need the object to do? what do we need it for?
- we need it to serve our purpose before it looks good - the function dictates what the form might end up being - function typically comes before aesthetics as well
WHAT IS GRAPHIC DESIGN?
Graphic Design is communicating ideas or information visually.
