Respiration is when plants use food and water as energy and release CO2.
What is photosynthesis?
The act that plants use to get energy from the sun.
What is the xylem?
The tube used for the transport of water and minerals up the stem from the roots to the leaves.
What is the phloem?
The tube used for the transport of sugars from the leaves to the rest of the plant.

What does the villi do in the small intestine?
The villi absorbs blood and nutrients from the chyme.
What is chyme?
Chyme is the mixture made in the stomach from the food ingested.
Which types of teeth are in the oral cavity?
Incisors, canines and molars.
What is chemical digestion and where does it occur?
Chemical digestion is where the food, with the help of enzymes, turns into substances that cells can absorb and use. This happens in the small intestine.
What makes up the digestive system?
The mouth, esophagus, stomach, liver & gallbladder, pancreas, small intestine, large intestine, rectum and anus.
What do the glands of the stomach produce and what is it made up of?
The stomach makes gastric juices made up of pepsin and HCl.
What does the bacteria produce in the large intestine?
Vitamin B & Vitamin K.
What is physical digestion?
Physical digestion includes our teeth chewing and grinding food, basically breaking food down physically.
What organ of the digestive system doesn’t have food pass through it?
Liver, gallbladder and pancreas.
