Functional Movement Screening Flashcards
Shoulder Mobility - Clearing Exam
Observed for a pain response
Shoulder Mobility
Test bilateral shoulder ROM, internal rotation/adduction and external rotation/abduction as well as scapular mobility and t-spine extension
Limitation: Thoracic Spine
Active Straight Leg Raise
Tests the ability to dis-associate the lower extremity from the trunk while maintaining stability of the torso
Limitations: Test ook hip flexors
Trunk Stability Push-up
Tests ability to stabilize spine in Anterior/Posterior plane during a closed chain upper body movement
Limitations: Tests other muscles
No age restrictions
In-Line Lunge
Tests hip and ankle mobility/stability, quad flexibility and knee stability
Simulation of rotational, decelerating and lateral movement
Rotary Stability
Assesses multi-plane trunk stability during a combined upper and lower extremity motion
Limitations: Too hard, also testing shoulder girlde and hip stability
Deep Squat
Tests bilateral, symmetrical, functional mobility of hips, knees & ankles. Dowel overhead also tests shoulder and T-spine mobility
Needed for almost everything in life
Hurdle Step
Tests bilateral functional mobility and stability of the hips, knees and ankles
Challenge proper stride mechanics during a stepping motion
Limitations: Perception in height, structural limitations
