stomach - hcL point
find zyphoid process, 1 anatomical inch down, left side
stomach - chapman reflex
6th rib, left (LNT)
pancreas - enzyme point
find zyphoid process, 1 anatomical inch down, right side
gall bladder - chapman reflex
6th rib, right (LNT)
right thumb web
check for grains and peas. mild, medium, severe
murphy’s sign
1-2 inch below right rib cage, deep breath in, palpate a>p during exhale, deep breath in, palpate in/under rib during exhale, half breath in, stay there. palpate w/knees bent
points for digestion
stomach
- hcl point (1 inch down left of zyphoid)
- chapman’s reflex (6th rib L)
pancreas
- enzyme point (1 inch down right of zyphoid)
gall bladder
- chapman’s reflex (6th rib R)
- murphy’s sign (under R rib cage, knees bent)
- right thumb web (look for grains/pea)
small intestine
- chapman reflex (8, 9, 10 ribs L&R)
- Bennett reflexes (2-3 inch around umbilicus)
large intestine
- ileocecal valve (halfway btwn umbilicus and hip bone R)
- large intestine (all around intestine)
- illiotibial band (along both legs)
small intestine - chapman reflex
8, 9, 10 rib L/R (LNT)
Bennett reflexes
2-3 inches around umbilicus - 4 points (LNT)
ileocecal valve
- point btwn umbilicus and R hip bone
- circle clockwise before palpating a>p

palpate large intestine
find R hip bone to locate beginning of large intestine. roll all around like a hose. 4-5 points. (LNT)
illiotibial band
place one hand on inner knee, lightly massage it band w/ other hand (palm). palpate down it. 3-4 points. (LNT)

- Bennett’s reflexes
things to ask patient
- have you worked out during the last 48 hours? what areas of focus?
- do you have any injuries around stomach, ribs?
- any skin nets?
