The actual number of white blood cells per volume of blood

What does the white blood cell differentials tell you?
Looks at the number of each different type of WBC per volume of blood
What does the red cell count measure?
The number of red blood cells per volume of blood
What does haemoglobin measure?
The amount of oxygen-carrying protein in the blood
What does haematocrit measure?
The amount of space red blood cells take up in the blood
What does the mean corpuscular volume measure (MCV)?
The average size of red blood cells
What does the platelet count measure?
The number of platelets in a given volume of blood
What would a change in neutrophil count suggest?
A bacterial infection
What would a change in lymphocyte count suggest?
A viral infection
