Fuel System Flashcards
Fuel Quantities in each tank and totals?
Wing Tanks (1 & 2) 1,499 Gallons / 10,043 LBS
Center Tank 2313 Gallons / 15,497 LBS
Total 5311 Gallons / 35,583 LBS
Prohibited fuels?
JP-4 and Jet B are prohibited
What powers
- FUEL SHUTOFF VALVES?
- Crossfeed valve?
- DC power from Hot battery bus
- DC power from battery bus
Fuel temp sensor location
main tank #1
Max fuel temp / min fuel temp
MAX is 49C
Min is 3 deg C above fuel freezing or 45 deg C whichever is higher
What powers fuel boost pumps?
“AC Power”
AFT pumps are Transfer bus 1/2 (for a/b)
FWD pumps are GEN bus 1/2 (for a/b)
If AC power is lost in flight which fuel tank will have trapped fuel that cannot be suction fed to engines?
Center Tank
Main difference between how Center and Main tank fuel pump lights function?
When center tank pumps are off,, lights go out
How does LOW PRESSURE fuel light illuminate MASTER CAUTION?
TWO in same tank to light master caution
ONE only will only illuminate MC only if recall is pushed
Fuel Quantity indicators powered by
Standby AC power
Why does Center tank fuel get used first?
Valves open at lower pressure than main tanks
Center tank scavenge pump
When both center tank pumps are turned off, fuel scavenge shutoff valve opens and allows fuel pressure from main tank #1 FWD pump to operate scavenge jet pump for next 20 minutes.
Fuel vent system
Prevents damage to wings and provides ram air pressure within the main tanks. Main tanks are vented into surge tanks in wing through a single opening in wing.
APU fuel is supplied from
Left side of the fuel manifold. Either turn on 1 pump or APU will suction feed from main tank 1
