Fuel Flashcards
How many fuel tanks are there?
3
- 1 Center tank
- 2 Wing tanks (Outer & Inner on each side)
What are the tank capacities?
Center: 6.476kg
Wing outer: 691kg
Wing inner: 5.435kg
Wing total: 6.126kg
What is the total fuel capacity?
18.728kg
How many transfer valves in each tank?
2
When do the transfer valves open?
All 4 open when either inner tank <750kg
What happens with the transfer valves once opened?
Latched open. Will close again on next refuelling.
What happens to fuel in the vent surge tank?
Scavenge pumps move the fuel back to their respective wing tank.
How many main fuel pumps are installed?
6
What is the purpose of the pressure relief sequence valves in the wing tank pumps?
Ensure center tank will deliver fuel preferentially when all tank pumps are on.
How can the LP fuel valve be closed?
- Engine master switch
- ENG FIRE pushbutton
Which pumps have suction valves?
Wing tank pumps only
When will the center pumps run with the mode selector in AUTO?
- Will run for 2 minutes after engine start
- After 500kg of inner tank fuel has been used and the slats are retracted.
What is the purpose of the fuel recirculation system?
Some high-pressure fuel diverted to the IDG cooler and through return valve to outer tank.
When will the center pumps stop running with the mode selector in AUTO?
Will run for 5 minutes after center tank low level is sensed, then stop.
What is the approximate refuelling time?
- 17 minutes for wing tanks
- 20 minutes for all tanks
