Superficial frostbite

A
  • clear/ milky colored blister formation
  • swelling and redness
  • blisters extend to top of digits

Frostnip

A
  • superficial freezing of tissues, skin is soft to touch so not completely frozen
    ** in frostbite, the tissue is completely frozen

  • dark/ blood filled blisters
  • ## blisters do not extend to top of digits

hypothermia treatment

A
  • if conscious and open airway, give them food and water
  • warm clothing, remove cold layers
  • evacuate if don’t improve within 30 minutes of interventions
  • put warm things to cushion around them
  • no body to body warming!
  • handle like glass, no walking!
