What is Acne; Grade 2?
Mainly closed comedones, more and more open comedones and some pastules and pustules.
What is Acne; Grade 1?
Minor breakouts - open comedones, some pastules or pustules.
What is Acne; Grade 3?
Red, inflamed open and closed comedones with pastules and pustules.
What is Acne; Grade 4?
Cystic Acne, scars from tissue damage, closed and open comedones, pastules and pustules.
Fitzpatrick 1 - Very fair, blond or red hair, light eyes, freckles. What is their reaction to UV Sun exposure and laser treatment risk?
Always burns, never tans. High risk for cancer & vascular damage.
Fitzpatrick 2 - Fair-skinned; light eyes; light hair. What is their reaction to UV Sun exposure and laser treatment damage risks?
Burns easily, tans with difficulty. High risk for cancer & vascular damage.
Fitzpatrick 3 - Very common; fair; eye and hair color vary. What is their reaction to UV Sun exposure and laser treatment damage risks?
Sometimes burns, gradually tans. Risk of Hyper/hypo-pigmentation. Moderate risk of skin cancer and vascular damage.
Fitzpatrick 4 - Mediterranean Caucasian skin; dark brown hair; medium to heavy pigmentation. What is their reaction to UV Sun exposure and laser treatment damage risks?
Rarely burns, tans easily. High risk of hyper/hypo-pigmentation. High risk for scarring. Moderate risk for vascular damage.
Fitzpatrick 5 - Middle Eastern skin; dark and black hair; brown eyes; rarely sun sensitive. What is their reaction to UV Sun exposure and laser treatment damage risks?
Skin darkens; may never burn. High risk for hypo/hyper. High risk for scarring from treatments and trauma. Moderate for vascular damage. Lower risk for solar-pigmented conditions and actinic aging from sun exposure. UVA doesn’t affect them the same way and age them like a Fitz 1 would.
Fitzpatrick 6 - Black skin, brown eyes; rarely sun sensitive.
Tans easily; may never burn. Very high risk for hyper/hypo. High rish for scarring from treatments and trauma. Moderate risk for vascular damage. Lower risk for solar-pigmented conditions and actinic aging. UVA doesn’t age them like a Fitz 1 would.
