Pathogenesis of a stress fracture (3)

A
  • accumulation of microdamage over weeks/months due to repetitive overloading
  • bone weakened: acute sever lameness conincides with bone failure and macroscopic damage
  • macroscopic damage may be seen as non-displaces, incomplete fracture
