Q

Differentiate Pathologic, stress, and traumatic fracture

A

pathologic - fx d/t pre-existing illness
stress - fx d/t repeated , unaccustomed loading
traumatic - fx d/t sustained trauma or blunt force

Q

Differentiate the ffg. fractures
transverse
spiral
oblique

A

transverse - fx d/t simple angulatory force (horizontal)
spiral - fx d/t torsion in turning direction
oblique - fx that is diagonal to bone’s axis

6
Q

Differentiate the ffg. fractures
linear
impacted
avulsion
compression/wedge

A

linear - fx that is parallel to bone’s axis (vertical)
impacted - fx d/t bone fragments are driven to each other
avulsion - fx wherein fragment of bone is separated
compression/wedge - fx usually in vertebrae, front portion collapses d/t osteoporosis

7
Q

Explain what is incomplete fx, complete fx and comminuted fx

A

Incomplete - bone fragments are still partially joined
Complete - bone fragments totally separated
Comminuted fx - bone is broken 3-5 more segments

18
Q

2 phases during evaluation process and briefly explain

A

I. Immobilization/ Early Mobilization (0-6 weeks)
- identify tasks/ activities which pt needs to learn during temporary period of restricted mvmt.
- measurement of ROM and circumference of swelling

II. Early consolidation (6-8 weeks)
- continue assessing the pt’s ability to use the injured limb for functional tasks
edema and sensibility is assesed

19
Q

2 phases during intervention process and briefly explain

A

I. Immobilization/ Early Mobilization (0-6 weeks)
- provide controlled mvmt GI gravity- assisted or gravity -eliminated plane
-use pf AAROM and AROM

II. Early consolidation (6-8 weeks)
- focused active use of limb (bilateral exercises)
-edema control
