Fractionation Flashcards
Happe et al 2006
There is no single cognitive, genetic or brain region account for all the symptoms presented in Autism, therefore we should look at each aspect individually into order to gain abetter understanding. Twin studies only show moderate correlations between social and non-social. Those with impairment in only 1 oe 2 may be let down by needing 3 for diagnosis.
Murray et al 2004
looked into how related ASD symptoms are found that many studies only use clinical ASD samples, which leads to range restriction of symptoms. therefore some studies may have under estimated how inter-correlated the ASD symptoms are.
Mandy et al 2012
Using a 1,2 & 3 factor model to best describe Autism found that a 2 factor model in-line with DSM-5 was best used to explain the symptoms, therefore offering an alternative to the triad.
Sasson et al 2012
Studied the association between BAP and real world social skills. Social BAP scores were negatively associated with social cognition, while there was no relationship between social cognition and non-social traits. Demonstrating how individual elements may provide more useful data individually than overall score. Self report was used, under grad sample and definition of BAP.
