Face Processing Flashcards
Behrmann et al 2006
Autistic individuals show a slower discrimination between faces, they also demonstrate a local bias regarding other objects such as letters and shapes: local bias may have an adverse effect on ability to process cues.
Vlammings et al 2015
Investigated whether children with ASD show abnormalities in low spatial frequencies and high spatial frequencies. Enhanced brain activity was recorded using evoked potentials in response to HSF than LSF. It was also found F.P was driven by HSF.
Lahie et al 2006
Disputed the findings regarding the F.I.E in ASD, made the task simpler to limit complexity. Did find that those with ASD rely more so on atypical features and non-features for facial recognition but may still suffer from inversion effect, links to EPF- local bias but can use global meaning.
Langdell 1978
Found reduced FIE in Autism
