Answer 1

1. Pray for them, and develop specific spiritual points according to their needs before we make the call.
2. When we actually make the call, we really listen with our ears and with our hearts (try to feel what they feel, we try to have compassion).
3. We use God’s Word to remind them, they’re not facing their crisis alone (e.g., Exodus 3:7,12)
   “I well know the pains of my people” – and verse 12, “I will prove to be with you”.
4. We have an ending prayer with them, and we use their names.
   1 Thess. 514: “We urge you brothers, to speak consolingly to those who are depressed, to support the weak, and be patient toward all.

2. Listen from the heart.
3. Remind them God is with them.
4. Pray with them using their name.
