A government that is subjected to strict legal limits on the use of their power.
What is a Representative Government?
A government where people would govern through a selection of representatives.
What did the Articles of Confederation establish between the states?
They establish more a “friendship” between the states.
What did the Articles of Confederation lack?
They lacked the Executive Branch.
The United States Constitution was written through a series of what?
Compromises.
What is the representation based on for the House of Representatives?
Representation is based on population in the lower house.
What is the representation based on for the Senate?
Equal representation in the upper house.
What type of government did Federalist favor?
A strong NATIONAL government.
What type of governments did the Anti-Federalists favor?
A strong STATE government and a more restricted FEDERAL government.
What did Anti-Federalists believe about the state governments?
Believed state government would be more in tune with the public opinion.
What was the purpose for adopting the Constitution?
The people can create a better Union, and establish Justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessing of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.
