Forming Flashcards
Two types of forming
Conventional and Industrialized
Describe Conventional Forming
Assembled in a situ from standard elements for each use and disassembled after each use
describe industrialized forming
factory fabricated products used many times as one unit without being disassembled
Layers of forming
Sheathing, Joists/Stringers/Studs/wales/strong backs, and Ties
first layer that comes in contact with concrete
sheathing
Two or three layers that provide structure that supports the sheathing
Joists or stringers (or studs, wales, and strong backs)
Final layer that accepts/absorbs the loads and transfers them to a stable supporting surface
Ties
How much does formwork cost in terms of concrete?
30-70% of construction cost for concrete building frames
What range is the rental cost in the purchase cost?
2-6%
Describe Tilt-up construction
Method of building concrete interior and exterior walls without using vertical frame work and that minimizes the required duration of lifting-crane-equipment time
What leads to tilt-up construction
High-cost of framework
What type of forms are used during tilt-up construction
Steel āLā Shaped forms
How to maximize the use of crane during tilt-up construction
Using wire rope lifting bails to pull more panels
