What is definition of partition coefficient (P)?

A

The ratio of the
compound’s organic (oil)-to-aqueous phase concentrations:
Partition Coefficient (P) = [Organic] / [Aqueous

Q

What is role of solvent? & Do you have a real life example?

A

Role in dissolving solutes and serving as a key component in chemical transformations.

A simple example of a solvent in real life is making a cup of tea. When you add sugar to hot water, the water acts as the solvent, dissolving the sugar. The resulting mixture is a solution, where the water (solvent) has effectively incorporated the sugar (solute), creating a sweet tea.
