Forearm, Elbow, Humerus Flashcards
Clears the coronoid process of the radial head
Elbow AP oblique projection - Medial rotation
Oblique projection of the elbow with coronoid process free of superimposition
Elbow AP oblique projection - Medial rotation
Oblique projection of the elbow; radial head & neck free of superimposition of the ulna
Elbow AP oblique projection - Lateral rotation
Done when the patient cannot completely extend the elbow for an AP projection
Distal humerus AP projection - Partial flexion
Done together with an AP projection of the proximal forearm in partial flexion
Distal humerus AP projection - Partial flexion
Done together with an AP pupf the proximal forearm in acute flexion
Distal humerus AP projection - Acute flexion / Jones Orthopedic thechnique
Done when the patient cannot completely extend the elbow for an AP projection
Proximal Forearm AP projection- Partial flexion
Done together with an AP puof the distal humerus in partial flexion
Proximal Forearm AP projection- Partial flexion
Done together with an AP projection of the distal humerus in acute flexion
Proximal Forearm AP projection- Acute flexion / Jones Orthopedic Technique
Used in radiohumeral bursitis (tennis elbow) to detect otherwise obscured calcifications in the ulnar sulcus
Distal Humerus PA Axisl Projection
Arm at an angle of 45 to 50 degrees
CR at 20 degrees towards the wrist
Olecranon Process PA Axial Projection
For demonstration of the entire circumference of the radial head free of superimposition
Radial head lateral projection / 4 position series (lateromedial)
10 to 15 degrees cephalad if Px cannot elevate the unaffected shoulder
Humerus Transthoracic Lateral Projection
Allows the olecranon process to in profile & does not compress the elbow fat pads
Elbow lateral projection
