Forearm and Elbow Flashcards
Greenstick Fracture
Fracture on convex side of bone without subsequent fracture on concave side, due to the bone bending during injury.
Dinnerfork deformity.
Galeazzi Fracture
Fracture of distal third of radius with concurrent dislocation of ulna head.
Midshaft of Radius and Ulna Fracture
Fracture to middle of radius and ulna.
Dinnerfork deformity.
Monteggia Fracture
Fracture of proximal third of ulna with concurrent dislocation of radial head.
Radial Head Fracture
Fracture to radial head with pain on pronation and supination.
Olecranon Fracture
Fracture through olecranon process of ulna.
Supracondylar Fracture
Fracture of distal humerus extending across both medial and lateral condyles.
Elbow dislocation
Radius and ulna move out of place, relative to the humerus.
Bone Tumours
Neoplastic growth of tissue on bone.
Bone Tumour Projections
AP elbow.
Lat elbow.
Elbow Dislocation Projections
AP elbow.
Lat elbow.
*May vary depending on patient presentation.
Supracondylar Fracture Projections
Lat elbow.
(H-beam) Axial elbow. (for more than 90 degree flexion)
Do not move elbow –> Image patient how they present.
Olecranon Fracture Projections
Lat elbow.
????
Radial Head Fracture Projections
Standard:
AP elbow.
AP 20 degree external oblique elbow. *
Lat elbow.
Alternative:
* 20 degree tube angulation AP elbow.
~Projections dependant on patient’s range of movement.~
Monteggia Fracture Projections
PA forearm.
H-beam Lat forearm.
H-beam PA elbow.
