Insertion- palmar aponeurosis
Action- elbow flexor, wrist flexor
Flexor carpi radialis (FCR)
Origin- medial epicondyle
Insertion- anterior surface, base of metacarpals 2 & 3
Action-elbow flexor, wrist flexor, radial deviation
Flexor carpi ulnaris
Origin- medial epicondyle, proximal 2/3 posterior border do the ulna
Insertion- anterior surface, base of metacarpal 5, pisiform, hamate
Action- elbow flexor, wrist flexor, ulnar deviation
Extensor carpi ulnaris
Origin- lateral epicondyle, mid posterior ulna
Insertion- dorsal surface base of metacarpal 5
Action- extend elbow, extend wrist, ulnar deviation
Extensor carpi radialis brevis
Origin- lateral epicondyle
Insertion- dorsal surface base of metacarpal 3
Action- extend elbow and wrist, radial deviation
Extensor carpi radialis longus
Origin- lateral supracondylar ridge and lateral epicondyle
Insertion- dorsal surface base of metacarpal 2
Action- extend elbow and wrist, radial deviation
Flexor digitorum sulerficialis
Origin- medial epicondyle, coranoid process anterior 2/3 of radius
Insertion- sides of the middle phalanges of digits 2-5
Action- elbow and wrist flexor, flexor of proximal and middle phalanges 2-5
Flexor digitorum profoundus
Origin- proximal 3/4 anterior medial of the ulna
Insertion- anterior surface, base of the distal phalanges, digits 2-5
Action- wrist flexor, flexor of middle and distal phalanges 2-5
Flexor pollicis longus
Origin- anterior middle 1-3 of the radius and distal to coronoid process of ulna
Insertion- anterior surface, base of the distal phalanx of digit 1
Action- flexes wrist and thumb radial deviation
Extensor digitorum
Origin- lateral epicondyle
Insertion- dorsal surface bases of middle and distal phalanges digits 2-5
Action- extends elbow, wrist, mad digits 2-5
Extensor indicis
Origin- dorsal mid to distal 1/3 of ulna
Insertion- dorsal surface base of middle mad distal phalanx digit 2
Action- extend digit 2, wrist extension
Extensor digiti minimi
Origin- lateral epicondyle
Insertion- dorsal surface base of middle phalanx digit 5
Action- extend elbow and wrist, ulnar deviation, extension of digit 5
Extensor pollicis longus
Origin- dorsal middle of the ulna
Insertion- dorsal surface base of distal phalanx digit 1
Action- extends wrist and digit 1, radial deviation
Extensor pollicis brevis
Origin- dorsal surface of lower middle radius
Insertion- dorsal surface base of proximal phalanx digit 1
Action- extends wrist and proximal phalanx of digit 1m radial deviation
Abductor pollicis longus
Origin- dorsal middle 1/3 of ulna and the radius
Insertion- dorsal surface base of metacarpal 1
Action- abducts thumb, radial deviation
