A
  • mortise and rim cylinder puller
  • used to pull majority of lock cylinders
  • used in conjunction with axe and halligan

to open locks after cylinder has been removed:
-cam principle, key turns a cam tag slide the bolt out of the strike
5 o’clock to 7’ockock principle …before pulling the lock cylinder, check position of keyway. (always 6 o’clock position ) move 5 to 7 or 7 to 5

RIM LOCK

A
  • fits on INSIDE surface of door with the CYLINDER VISIBLE from outside
    1) SCREW DRIVER principle-key turns stem on end of the cylinder which fits into the backplate of the lock
    2) pull cylinder and check rear for stem size
    3) insert straight end of key tool into stem slot on the lock …turn key tool either direction LEFT OR RIGHT

POLICE LOCKS - (rim lock) the stem of the cylinder is SQUARE SHAPPED THUS REQUIRING 5/32” KEY TOOL

DOUBLE BAR -FOX LOCKS –easily recognizable by location of cylinder in CENTER OF DOOR

  • metal plate with 4 bolts
  • shear off top two bolts and one bottom , exposing lock cylinder , remove cylinder with K TOOL ,using square key turn the tool towards bottom bar thus unlocking door

Q

ELECTRICALLY OPERATED ..

A

-MOTOR and components in large metal housing, located on outside of installation, adjacent to either side of drum
-AUXILIARY hoist mechanism located inside the operator housing and is not visible from outside
-remove padlocks, remove cover of housing or remove entire housing
-pushing the level towards the chain hoist mechanism will engage unit and the door can be raised mechanically by use of chain provided
or cut bicycle chain using the bolt cutters and security gate is now hanging free, you now have manually operated door, 2 or 3 members may now raise

if delay is anticipated and heavy fire conditions exist, and applications of water is of immediate necessity , security gate cut using saw

  • SMALL TRIANGLE below center of door and a stream operated
  • LARGER TRIANGLE , SLATS ON EITHER SIDE REMOVED, SLIDE SLATS TOWARD THE CUT

-tool is held with the hand at the hook end PALM UP and fork end PALM DOWN
-FORK END 6 INCHES above /below

Q

The FF holding the axe stands at the side opposite member holding the halligan tool in order to reduce the chance of striking the other firefighter

A

axe not swung, used with shoulder and stiff arm

-awkward condition , wall will not permit the members to operate on opposite sides of the halligan tool , thus putting members on same side
