Forces on charged particles Flashcards
1
Q
In a Cathode ray tube what do cathode and anode do?
A
Accelerate electrons - higher polarity = increased velocity
2
Q
In a Cathode ray tube what does y-plate do?
A
Control electron deflection - higher polarity = larger difference in height
3
Q
What must charged particles be doing to create a magnetic Field?
A
They must be moving
4
Q
In linear particle accelerators why do the length of the drift tubes increase?
A
So that the time taken through each tube is the same - since the particle velocity will have increased
5
Q
Right hand rule - positively and negatively charged particles
A
Right hand for electrons and negatively charged particles, left hand for protons and positively charged particles
