Q

Biomass pyramid

A

Large at the bottom
- producers are the most populated and have to accommodate for herbivores.
Small at the top
- Needs to be less herbivores and carnivores so that all the producers are not consumed

Q

Energy- Biomass pyramid

A

Sun gives energy to producers and then some of the energy is transferred into herbivores (some lost to the environment). Then the carnivores receive some of the energy from eating herbivores.
Producers need a lot of energy to produce there own food.

Q

What is a food web?

A

Food chain shows how each living thing gets food, and how nutrients and energy are passed from creature to creature. Food chains begin with plant-life, and end with animal-life.

Q

What is the difference between food webs and food chains?

A
  • A food web consists of many food chains.
  • A food chain only follows just one path as animals find food. (A hawk eats a snake, which has eaten a frog)
  • A food web shows the many different paths plants and animals are connected.
