What are Hunter Gatherers?
Hunter Gatherers are humans who obtained their food from nature by hunting animals and gathering wild plants.
How much food did they consume?
Hunter Gatherers only consumed the amount of food needed to survive.
Who collected what?
Men would hunt (fishing) and women would gather fruits, seeds, nuts and roots.
What were some limitations?
Shortages of food when the weather was cooler or drier.
Strict control over the population.
Where were the Mbuti Pygmies located?
Congo - Africa
They were nomadic meaning that they move on when supplies are exhausted and take their shelters as they aren’t going back.
Animal foods
Crabs and Shellfish
Vegetable foods.
Fruits and berries.
Where were the Sami from?
Cold Arctic
They were semi nomadic meaning they moved to the same places each year.
