What is a Banquet?
A formal sit down meal
What is family-style service?
Dishes are placed on the table and customers help themselves.
What is Gueridon service?
Meals are sometimes cooked at the customers table or served from a side table or trolley
What is Plated service?
Meal is plated up in the kitchen and brought to the table by waiting staff
What is sliver service?
Served by waiting staff using a spoon and fork to serve food from a serving dish
What is a buffet?
A selection of dishes laid out on a table or counter for customers to help themselves
What is a finger buffet?
Food is designed to be eaten without cutlery and is often in small bites.
What is a cafeteria?
Customers walk past food counters, selecting what they want to eat, they then pay and collect cutlery
What is fast food service?
Food order to eat in or take away
Name three facilities that a hotel can offer?
Leisure facilities, conference facilities, 24hr service/restaurant
State 5 things to consider when booking an overnight stay?
Type of room, does they have WIFI, do they have early breakfast times, do they have a restaurant or bar for food & drink, Do they have parking facilities
State 3 dress code that waiter/waitress should keep to?
No Jewellery, Uniform should be changed daily,
No heavy makeup, false nails and false eyelashes should not be worn, Strong scents should not be worn or it can taint the food
