FOM Manual Flashcards
How often do you have to make announcements for a delayed flight?
DOT requires an announcement every 30 minutes.
However, current Envoy policy is every 15 minutes.
When will the dispatch assume a wet runway at the destination.
Less than RVR 4000 or 3/4 mile = wet runway for dispatch
When a descent clearance is given, when is a pilot required to descend?
When a descent clearance with a crossing restriction is given and the difference in altitude is 6000 feet or less, pilots should initiate a descent unless conditions would prevent doing so (ie, weather, fuel considerations, etc.)
When must you use an RCC of “2”?
Use a Runway Condition Code (RCC) of “2” whenever there is a likelihood of moderate or greater rain on a smooth runway or heavy rain on a grooved/PFC runway.
When is a takeoff alternate required?
If the WX at the departure airport are below CAT I mins for appropriate runway.
What are the requirements for a takeoff alternate airport?
Minimums must meet regular visibility requirements for any alternate AND must not be more than one hour from the departure airport at normal cruising speed with one engine out (270 nm for the E145).
When is a Preflight Briefing required? What does it include? Where does it say that?
Prior to the start of a sequence, or if crew members or other info changes. (FOM 3c. 1. 1)
C - Crew present and introductions made
L - List of special customers and needs discussed
E - Emergency Procedure signals
A - Advisories and WX, including turbulence, delays
R - Repairs, MEL, FA related cabin items
S - Security related items & signals between flight deck & cabin
According to FOM, what physical or paper documents must be on the E145?
1) Airworthiness Certificate
2) Aircraft Registration
3) FCC Radio Station License
4) Aircraft Maintenance Log (AML)
5) Emergency Procedures Checklist (EPC)
6) Quick Reference Handbook (QRH)
7) Air Operator Certificate
8) Aircraft Noise Certification Information
9) Paper Checklist Cards
Does having dry ice on board always require an AUTO NOTOC?
No. If there is 5.5 pounds or less, regardless of if it is in the passenger or cargo compartment, you do not need an AUTO NOTOC.
If something happens during the flight, where can you find if you need to do a Pilot Pipeline Report?
The Pipeline system is a standardized method for Envoy to respond to an FAA Request for Information. The table of required Pipeline events is in FOM 26.2.2. Upon submission, a Pipeline is routed to a variety of Envoy Management positions for their awareness and consideration.
When would we need to use Exemption 17347 (not what’s in it, but when would be need it)?
If conditional language in the TAF (“TEMPO”,”PROB”) indicates that the destination AND/OR alternate will be below MINS, but the main body of the report says that the weather will be at or above MINS.
To release a flight under Exemption 17347, what conditions must be in place (not why would you need it, but what you need once you’ve decided to use it)?
- One ADDITIONAL alternate airport
- Destination a/p not less than 1/2 the lowest VIS
- 1st Alternate a/p not < than 1/2 lowest Ceiling & VIS
- 2nd Alternate must be above Ceiling & VIS
- Must have fuel for Dest., most distant Alt. + 45 min
If you are trying to use Exemption 17347, can you use an RNAV approach to determine if an airport can be used?
RNAV can be used to determine MINS at either the destination OR alternate(s). Cannot dispatch based on RNAV only approaches at both the destination and alternate a/p.
Do you need to do a Pipeline Report for a go around?
No.
Can you depart the gate if you are above your RLS FUEL but below your FERRY FUEL?
Yes. From FOM 2.2.6: “The station may reduce or eliminate FERRY/ADMIN fuel without consultation with the SOC if the FERRY/ADMIN fuel will jeopardize payload.”
