What is a low time FO and what restrictions does a low time FO have?
FOM 5.1.1
A low time FO has less <100 hours in type
Captain must make all T/O or landings when:
- special airports (Q on OFP)
- vis <3/4sm or 4,000RVR
- contaminated runway
- brake action < good
- xwind >15kts
- windshear near airport
- captain discretion
What is a Low TIme Flight Crewmember? Restrictions?
FOM 5.1.2
LTFC has <100hrs line experience in type, not seat specific.
At least one pilot must not be an LTFC
Crewmembers in PWP may not be assigned to a crew that has LTFC
Special PIC qualified airports:
FOM 5.1.2
Captains may not operate as PIC into special PIC qualification airports unless qualification has been accomplished within the preceding 12 months by one of the following methods
- in the operating crew member has made an entry for that airport using a level D or better simulator
- Review of the Jepp chart pictorial images
- view special PIC airport video
What is a high Mins captain? Restrictions?
FOM 5.1.8
High mins Captain has < 100hrs line experience as PIC.
Regular takeoff mins and takeoff alternate req’d apply
CA must add 100ft to MDA or DA and 1/2sm (2500RVR) at destination. Once applied, minimus must not be <300 and 1.
DH or MDA and vis or RVR Need not be increased at the alternate. However, alternate landing minimums can not be less than 300 and 1.
Exemptions to high mine Captain?
FOM 5.1.9
OpSpec A005
Exemptions:
- cat I not authorized < 3/4sm (4000RVR),
And xwind > 15kts
And braking action < good.
CA may use lowest published cat I mins:
- CA and FO qual’d for cat II/III ops
- autopilot or auto land system used to DH or GA
CA may use lowest cat II mins if:
- CA has 300hrs as PIC or SIC in jets,
- CA and FO are qual’d for cat II/III
- autoland used to DH and landing or GA
