What is meant by the beanpole family? Who talks about ths?
- Brannen- this is a new type of family which is mot apart of a wider kniship network which has been brought about by three factors
1. Women working more
2. Falling birth rates = less brothers, sisters and smaller families
3. Falling death rates= increased families
What is meant by a lone parent family ?
- This is known as a single parent family which are headed by a lone parent
- 90% of families are mother headed
What is meant by the extended family ?
- This means that a family unit contains relatives beyond the core of the nuclear family.
- vertical extended= at least 3 generations ie children , grandparents and parents Foster records this in est lon in the 1980s
- Horizontal extended - Contains aunts, uncles and cousins living under the same roof
