A

need fluids in the cells
diabetic ketoacidosis hyperglycemia

DO NOT give with intracranial pressure or burns. will cause brain swelling

A

+3 pitting edema
Not used as often

need fluid to leave cells and go back into vascular space
sodium loves water. hyponatremia
cererbral edema

A

To increase extracellular fluid /vascular space

Dehydration
Blood Loss
Surgery
Diarrhea
to expand blood volume but we do NOT want the solvent to go into the tissues
